PAYROLL ANALYST

 Permanent Full Time

The Municipal District of Opportunity is seeking a highly organized, self motivated individual possessing sound payroll knowledge to fill a permanent full time position of Payroll Analyst. The successful applicant will be under the supervision of the Payroll Coordinator and will be responsible for assisting in the following areas:

 

Responsibilities:

·         Calculation & reporting of entitlements for employees(vacation, personal leave, sick leave, special leave, including retro payments)

·         Employee setups in Great Plains, and with benefit providers: Industrial Alliance, LAPP, and RRSP/TFSA.

·         Termination processes of employees as required from time to time.

·         Bi-weekly time summary entries for permanent, temporary, and special project employees; semi-monthly entries for Council and monthly entries for firefighters.

·         Prepare online submissions for benefit payments and records of employment.

·         Prepare bank transactions for our benefits and ensure accuracy of payments.

·         Prepare and remit statutory payments to Canada Revenue Agency.

·         Ensure that the policies and procedures related to the payroll function are adhered to.

·         Prepare submissions for annual payroll reporting for T4’s, LAPP and WCB.

·         Other duties that may be assigned.

 

Qualifications:

·         High School Diploma, Business Administrative Diploma and Canadian Payroll Compliance Practitioner Certificate  are desired or a minimum of two years of payroll experience may be considered

·         Knowledge of general office procedures, Payroll and benefit plans.

·         Computer skills a definite asset (Microsoft Environment – Word/Excel and

Great Plains Dynamics)

·         A team oriented person with good public relations, analytical and interpersonal skills.
