Keekenow Senior Facility
The Keekenow Senior Facility offers assisted and independent living to community elders both Indigenous and non-Indigenous, with wellness services customizable to the individual needs of each resident.
The facility’s independent living program is ideal for individuals who can still live independently, but enjoy having access to assistance when needed. Independent living offers a safe living environment where residents can enjoy medical care, social activities, and meals prepared by qualified chefs, made from scratch and offer local ingredients. Assisted living is a great option for individuals who have difficulty with daily activities at home. Residents in assisted living receive regular support for a range of daily needs, ranging from nursing and housekeeping to prepared meals. Residents also enjoy a full calendar of events catering to their unique interests, including daily activities, out-trips, and countless opportunities for social engagement.
Opened on June 15, 2020, the facility includes 60 modern suites, each with a bathroom with an accessible shower. All suites are furnished with a bed, bedside table, dresser, chair, and sofa. The facility also features extensive amenity space, including a large dining room and multiple-purpose spaces, and two dementia-care cottages, each with their own dining and lounge spaces designed to create a home-like setting. The Memory Care unit focuses on compassion and wellbeing, where all care staff receive specialized dementia training.
The Keekenow Senior Facility employs 24-hour professional nursing care, consisting of Licensed Practical Nurses, Health Care Workers, and Activity Aids, while Registered Nurses provide clinical leadership and continuous education to its employees.
