Landfill/Transfer Site Hours Of Operation: 10:00am – 6:00pm

Wabasca: Tuesday – Saturday

Calling Lake (Transfer Site): Sunday – Thursday

Chipewyan Lake (Transfer Site): Open 7 Days a Week

Sandy Lake (Transfer Site): As of April 7th, 2026: Tuesday – Thursday 7:00am – 4:00pm and Saturday 10:00am – 6:00pm

Red Earth Creek (9:00am – 5:00pm): Tuesday – Saturday

Transfer Sites

Calling Lake: 3020 Secondary Highway 813 (NW-21-72-21-W4)
Chipewyan Lake: 73 Chipewyan Lake Road (PT-33-91-22-W4)
Sandy Lake: 1101 Highway 813 (NE-31-78-22-W4 just off Highway 813)

Landfills and Transfer Sites

  • Landfills are located in Wabasca and Red Earth Creek
  • Transfer Sites are located in Calling Lake, Chipewyan Lake, and Sandy Lake
  • Commercial and residential garbage is collected weekly by the MD and contracted services
  • Garbage is sorted at each site and recorded by the attendants
  • Refuse from the transfer sites is stored in 40 yard bins, which are then picked up and transported to the main landfill sites with our Bin Trucks
  • There is a usage charge of $15/cubic meter for non-residents
