Source Water Protection Plan
In 2015, Bigstone Cree Nation and First Nations Technical Services Advisory Group worked together to create a source water protection plan for the Wabasca lakes. They invited the M.D. of Opportunity No. 17 to join the collaborative effort in 2016. The plan aims to assess the quality of our source water, identify any risks, and from there develop and implement mitigation strategies. Two of the action items were to create signs and an information pamphlet. You can see the signs in various locations such as at the beaches and boat launches, and the information pamphlet can be downloaded here (42MB), or can be picked up at Wabasca's municipal administration office.
